Slave Route and Door of No Return

The roughly four-kilometre path the captives were made to walk, from Ouidah's auction square to the beach where the slave ships waited. It is lined with monuments and ends, facing the ocean, at the Door of No Return, a memorial unveiled in 1995. A place of remembrance: a guided visit gives it its full meaning.
