Visiting places of worship

A few simple customs to be warmly received.

Most Senegalese are Muslim and many belong to a brotherhood (Mouride, Tijani, Layene…). In a mosque as in a church: cover shoulders and legs, remove shoes when asked, and stay discreet during prayers. Always ask before photographing people.
